My passion for makeup began at a young age. Using my self taught skill I gained further knowledge which enabled me to develop my talent, exploring several areas of makeup appliance such as specialised makeup and SFX.

 

I expanded my skills and knowledge by gaining a Higher National Diploma Qualification in ‘Creative Production Arts’ covering Hair, Makeup and Special Effects for TV and Film. In order to advance my knowledge further I am completing a BA Honours Degree course, known as, ‘BA Hons: TV and Film: Hair, Makeup and Special Effects (Top up) at the University of South Wales.

 

Having worked as a Freelance Makeup Artist since 2015 alongside my studies,  I have had experience in other aspects of the industry. Film and Television has been the major part of this experience. In February 2017, I worked with South Wales production company ‘Tornado Studios’ while creating their short film ‘The Rebels’ later shown on Netflix. I also have worked with 'The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama'as their Makeup Artist on a number of live theatre performances.

 

I have recently been involved in High Fashion and Editorial shoots. Having an eye for what looks good on the pages of magazines and live runway is something I pride myself in. My previous experiences include being part of the Makeup team for ‘Cardiff’s Fashion Week 2017’. Working with a cast of 50 models and also undergoing a Press and VIP day during that week.

 

In December 2017, I was approached by the Online Editor and Stylist, ‘Rhianedd Dancey’ of Berlin’s leading fashion magazine ‘O.E Magazine’ to assist an outdoor shoot in Crystal Palace, London. Assisting ‘Yuki Yanase’ in the hair department and the Makeup Artist ‘Dash Makeup’. The editorial article ‘Waves of Space’ was published in ‘Whitelies Magazine’. Two months later, I was hired for a second outdoor shoot as the head Makeup Artist and Designer for the Magazine. Taking on this role and working with six different Designers and costume changes was a challenge I thoroughly loved. The article ‘Play’ and outcome of the shoot will be published at a later date in ‘Forumis Magazine’.

 

As well as working on productions and other projects, I continue to offer a range of Makeup Appliance and Beauty Services such as, Eyebrow grooming, and Lash extensions through my freelance business ‘Lucy Mills MUA’. Working with a wide client base gives me the opportunity to become familiar with different skin types and skin tones. I offer a range of styles from Daytime to Evening as well as Special Occasions such as Prom, Parties and Bridal packages. Being professionally trained in SFX Makeup, the Halloween period tends to be one of my busiest times.

 

I am pleased to say at prescient one of my clients is a Finalist in the ‘Miss Wales 2018’ Competition. I have accompanied her on shoots and other events connected with the competition as her Makeup Artist.
